Sinead Matson is a neurodivergent and disabled educator, researcher, and consultant with a lifelong commitment to inclusive, ethical, and socially just education.
She began her career in early childhood practice as a Montessori pre-school teacher, Montessori primary school principal, and Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) service manager.
After 18 years in practice, Sinead moved to delivering training at Further Education and Higher Education. These formative experiences, particularly relational pedagogies and practices, continue to shape how she works with educators, educational institutions, and communities today.
Sinead holds a PhD in Education from Maynooth University and her research focuses on socially just education, diversity, inclusion and equality, curriculum and pedagogy, and ethical research with children and marginalised communities.

She led and contributed to national and international research projects, including Erasmus+ initiatives and policy‑informing consultations. She has extensive experience designing and validating accredited programmes, supporting organisations through QQI processes, and developing curricula that embed inclusion, equality, and ethical practice at their core.
Sinead currently reviews for two international and two Irish academic journals and she has acted as a chapter editor and editorial board member for Ireland’s Education Yearbook published by Education Matters since 2021. She has published her own research, book chapters, and has contributed to European and national policy recommendations in various projects to date. She also actively supervises undergraduate and postgraduate thesis projects and dissertation writing, something she loves to do!
Sinead’s consultancy work is underpinned by a strong commitment to partnership, rigor and relevance. She works closely with stakeholders to design training, research, and educational resources that respond to real‑world contexts, support professional practice, and strengthen educational equality across systems.
Through Equitable Pathways education consultancy, Sinead offers research, training, programme development and bespoke educational packages tailored to the needs of organisations, educators and learners.
“I believe strongly in education that is collaborative, critically reflective, and grounded in lived experience. Whether supporting programme development, professional development or research, my aim is always to work with people to create meaningful and sustainable educational change.”
